Taking Courses at Another College

Undergraduate students interested in taking courses at another school should complete the Approval for Undergraduate Courses at Other Colleges form. Please submit the form to the appropriate department that offers the equivalent NJIT course. At the completion of the course, submit your transcript to the NJIT Registrar - Attention Patrick Fields.

Ying Wu College of Computing Policies for Taking Courses at Another School

Computer Science:

  1. A student is allowed to take an equivalent of a CS course outside NJIT only if the course is not offered at NJIT during that semester and/or there are no available seats in the course offered at NJIT.
  2. The CS Associate Chair has to approve the course equivalency (i.e., the course at the outside institution is equivalent with the NJIT course the student plans to transfer).

Information Technology:

  1. A student is allowed to take an equivalent of an IT course outside NJIT only if the course is not offered at NJIT and/or there are no available seats in the course offered at NJIT during fall/spring semester.
  2. There are no restrictions for taking an equivalent IT course outside NJIT during summer.
  3. The IT Director has to approve the course equivalency (i.e., the course at the outside institution is equivalent with the NJIT course the student plans to transfer).

Information Systems:

  1. A student is allowed to take an equivalent of a IS course outside NJIT only if the course is not offered at NJIT during that semester
  2. Students are only permitted to take 100 and 200 level courses at another institution.
